Effectively because some of the training has moved around, if you have finished training on a particular grade under the old programme, and wish to continue with the next grade under the new programme, then there are bits that you will have missed, and bits that you've already done.

The immediate way forward

  • If you are already an Advanced Diver,
    • then none of this applies to you.
  • If you have recently completed a diving qualification
    • then you will switch immediately onto the new scheme, receiving any credits where appropriate for approved training done. You will need to take a cross-over course.

  • If you are part-way through a training course.
    • If you have completed a substantial proportion of your current course
      • then you need to plan to complete it in the near future, probably before the end of April 2003. Please take an opportunity to review your current progress with the Diving Officer.
    • If you have not completed a substantial proportion of your current course, for example a DL trainee, who has done most lectures but little or no open water work, or an AD trainee, who has done Dive Marshalling, O2 and PRM SDC's, but little else.
      • then you should restart your training under the new scheme. You will need to take a cross-over course. You will be given credit for elements which you already have completed.
However, each case is individual, and requires review and approval by the Diving Officer.
